Avoid These Workout Mistakes

If you are just getting started with your beginners workout for weight loss and/or fat loss, be aware of some common fitness misconceptions. You can easily avoid these myths by avoiding the following workout mistakes.

Don’t do long cardio. Have you ever seen people at your health club spend an hour or longer on a cardio machine? If our objective is to burn calories, then steady cardio sessions are not terribly effective. On top of that, the last thing I want do do is spend my limited workout time on an exercise that does’t work. One hour on a stationary bike is just about the most boring thing I can think of.

A better alternative your beginners workout with intervals. Intervals are short bursts of intense effort followed by longer periods of active rest for recovery. Intervals raise your metabolism to a much higher level than steady cardio, and your metabolic rate will remain higher for 24 hours after your workout is over. All this means more calories burned. And even better, you can complete an interval workout in about 20 minutes. That’s it.

Don’t resist strength training. There is nothing to be afraid of. Everyone can include some sort of strength training in their workouts. And you absolutely will not bulk up like some bodybuilders we have seen.

There are so many benefits derived from strength training that we couldn’t cover them here.. Certainly a primary benefit is that strength training raises metabolism and burns calories. There is no doubt about this. Try using compound exercises in supersets. Or you can perform challenging circuit workouts. These structures are even more effective at burning calories for optimal weight loss.

Don’t target certain body areas. It is not possible to reduce fat in a troublesome body area by focusing your exercises on that certain area. It doesn’t work. Reduce fat by raising metabolism and burning calories.

Here is an example. You may think your arms contain excessive fat. So, you focus your workouts on tricep and arm exercises. Your arms will get stronger, but you will not rid yourself of the excess fat. A more effective strategy is to focus on exercises that raise your metabolism and burn the most calories. In this case, pushups and bench presses are far better choices.

Avoid these three mistakes, and you will be well on the way to developing a successful beginners workout for fat loss.
