Best Protein Supplement For Women – Is It Different From A Man?

It’s no closed secret that women are working out a lot more than they used to. The requirement for gender specific training protocols has never been higher. One matter that must be realized is that women workout for different reasons than men. The question I am exploring in this article is: should female athletes use special protein supplement?

What do you want to get out of your physical exercise? Statistically, if you’re a man you want muscle mass, if you’re a women you want health, weight loss, a sexy body or a combination of these. Whereas men’s bodies tend to naturally add musculature when exposed to even not so tough weight training, a womans body reacts quite differently (even when training with weights). The fact that they might get large actually keeps some women away from working out. Much less utilizing a protein supplement.

Rest assured. With the exception of ECCENTRIC measures, women never get great muscular arms and never loose any of their femininity through weight training.

What I want to talk about here is the question of: is there a deviation between what a male and a female might choose as the basis for their protein powder.

Happily enough, despite the many differences between a man and a woman’s bodies and goals, the answer is that you don’t have to choose a gender particular protein powder. However, there are other factors that must be taken into account, in this instance I am talking about lectin intolerance. That is however a different article and  I have touched upon it in a different article: TheBestProteinSupplement.com

I have heard some people state the belief that the best protein supplement should be great tasting. My opinion is that taste is one of the lowest factors in importance that you should consider when selecting your protein powder. This is because this taste ordinarily comes at a toll to your health and your fitness objectives.

Let me elaborate. The products that have great taste are ccompnied with things like artificial flavors – toxic and or too much sugar. You are in reality doing yourself factual harm. After you put in the strenuous work at a gym, fitness class or wherever, why would you desire to go against yourself in this way.

It is unbelievably powerful to reward yourself for every exercise session you complete – for every event that you do really. It is a very great idea to do so. But I am cautioning you not to use treats for this. Sure, you don’t have to use a protein supplement that is foul tasting, but you know what. There are many good one’s out there that taste ok and don’t hurt you.

Let me try to forestall another common pitfall besides the taste over quality one. When you start your workout program you also have to begin eating more. To get lean you must ingest MORE calories. What counts is the macronutrient proportions and the quality of your calories. If you take the correct steps and choose the best protein supplement you can support your goals by knowing that at least one of your meals is taken care of.

A quick last note, when combining your protein supplement avoid milk and juice. I recommend water. Milk has the unhappy property of increasing the difficulty of digestion (not something you would desire after a strenuous workout session). You will not desire to combine your protein powder with juice because this will result in the consumption of vitamin and mineral depleting sugar and perhaps toxic flavorings or preservatives — I just think it is intelligent to avoid low quality calories that undermine your workout and possibly poison you.

One more time, the important things you must remember:

– there is no difference between the best protein supplement for women versus men

– quality is more important than taste

– the features that matter are: quantity of protein per scoop, low carbs, no fat AND most importantly: the protein source
