Good Abs Are Easier Than You Think

Strong ab muscles are more important then just looking good.Abs are very important to our everyday active lifestyle. For just about every sport we play, we need strong abs. However, they are also important in everyday life. Conditioned abs will help to remove stress that will build in the lower back. So building up your core and help reduce everyday back pain.

Sometimes referred to as “the core section,” ab functions control all the mid-section movements of the body including the rotation of the torso as well as the hip. All the muscles of the core region help to compress abdominal organs and assist all strength movements for upper and lower body.

If your looking to get those six-pack abs, then you should focus on two things. First your grow bigger ab muscles, you must reduce body fat, or both.

If your abs are too small you need to build size with strength training. Doing sit-ups or leg lifts with heavier weights will increase size while more reps will make deeper cuts. I would focus on size first.

Now with a plan to build your ab muscles, you need to expose them by reducing the fat on top of them. But, before you get started please know that there is no such thing as targeted fat reduction. For this you need to increase your cardio and reduce calorie intake. For cardio I suggest you find an activity you enjoy like running, using Stairmaster with headphones, playing basketball, etc.

Now you need to figure out the best plan to reduce your calorie intake. The good news about doing cardio and ab strength building is that your diet does not have to be too restrictive. It can be portion control, eliminating sweets, stop drinking, etc. The important thing is to consistently reduce calories while your building abs.

Hint: Did you know that bigger or more toned muscles burn more calories while you sleep? That means bigger muscles require less cardio and less diet to get the same fat reducing result.

Ab exercises at home: You can do crunches and sit-ups on your own, but there is one machine I like called the Ab Coaster that does a good job of targeting all the core muscles. It simulates leg lifts which is one of the best abs exercises at the gym. Also, reviews on Ab Coaster are very good for getting those deep cuts for abs that get noticed. The Ab Coaster uses rollers on a track that really targets the muscles, but does not cause any pain in the neck or back.
