Interval Training Music
Have you ever heard that your performance levels can be boosted by listening to certain interval training music?
In a 2009 study, twelve (12) students were chosen for an experiment. They were put on an exercise bike and listen to six (6) songs. An increase in tempo led to the student’s output performance in this study. These tempo modifications were never disclosed to the student at any point in time.
3 different trials were conducted:
First Trial: The songs were at their normal speed
Second Trial: The songs tempo was lowered by ten percent (-10%) during the second trial.
Third Trial: The songs were sped up by ten percent (+10%) during the third trial.
Upon decreasing the tempo by 10%, the students encountered their performance decreasing by 36% and didn’t make the trial any easier. Upon increasing the tempo by 10%, student experienced an 3.5%.
The interval training music played a significant role on the performance. Just a 20% difference in the tempo created a difference of 39.5% levels after a 20% modification in tempo was made.
