Lower Cholesterol Food? – Good Cholesterol
Some Cholesterol is Beneficial! Very Good!
Cholesterol forms in the lipids — or fats — of the blood and is a wax-like substance. A certain amount of this fat is needed by the body, but too higher an amount actually increases the risk of developing some form of heart disease.
Believe it or not, ther body actually makes a certain amount of cholesterol. In fact, the liver manufactures about 1,000 milligrams each day. And it can be found throughout the entire body.additionally, cholesterol — as you may already know — can be found in many foods. You ingest cholesterol when you consume foods that are animal based That does not mean only meats –although that may well be the first source you think of.
Cholesterol is also to be found in eggs and whole-fat dairy products, including milk, cheese and ice cream. Foods which include vegetables, fruits and grains contain no cholesterol. The majority of us consumes an additional 150 to 250 grams of this waxy, fatty material through his diet on a daily basis. For our purposes, there are two categories of importance with lipoproteins (yes, that’s another name for cholesterol!): Low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and High-density lipoproteins (HDL). These are known more commonly as good and bad cholesterol.
Many individuals are confused when it comes to the good and the bad of cholesterol classification. But over the years, I have worked out a handy way to tell, well, the bad from the good. The LDL or low-density cholesterol is what we label, typicaly, as bad. I can remember this as LDL starts with the letter “L” for lousy. Therefore the other one, HDL is the good cholesterol. Your doctor encourages production of more of this type. I can recall that is healthy for us because healthy starts with the letter “H”, like the HDL abbreviation.
So why, briefly, is the LDL so lousy for your body? Put quite simply it’s the type of substance that is most likely to be the cause of blood vessel clogging. This reduces the free flow of the blood around one’s body to provide it with the necessary nourishment.
On the other hand, your doctor wants you to increase your levels of HDL cholesterol. This type of cholesterol helps to remove the other bad cholesterol from your blood. They are then carried back to the liver, where they are then processed prior to being sent out of the body.
An answer for this is to begin a gradual change of lifestyle by ensuring you eat lower cholesterol food, and starting a regime of vigorous exercise. Whether you have high cholesterol levels at present or not, developing a healthy, lower cholesterol diet can only help enormously.
