Making A Difference: Restoring Neighboring Parks
All over the nation, support on unnecessary government projects has been sliced. Teriffic teachers are fired while schools work to afford textbooks. Bridges and roads that have been damaged don’t get mended for long periods of time, even as they are safety perils for the public. Trash builds up on the beaches without any cleanup.
Even our neighborhood parks have become sadly deserted. Where children used to play all kinds of creative games, there is now dying grass and empty equipment. The government alone can no longer pay for the rates of clean up, park security, and updating treacherous playground equipment.
Obesity rates in children have climbed up while the prioritizing of district parks has fallen. Young ones are more unfit now than a decade ago and the decline of the stress placed on physical activity has a lot to do with that.
Fewer kids are active daily because they don’t have an appropriate place to play. You aren’t going to find anybody recommending that children go to the exercise room. A great park makes kids more vigorous and sociable, as they can run around and play with their friends.
Recollect when those we loved cheered for us from the portable bleachers while we ran and jumped and played soccer? Even if we failed or skinned our knee, we’d still feel happy. Having fun was fantastic enough for us. If we try, we can get those times back. You just have to see that your town prioritizes the fitness of the youth.
If this is something that you too are fanatical about, there are a few choices that you can pursue as a person.
First, you can decide to donate money to funds that are earmarked specifically for helping a park that is in need. A slide or portable bleachers could be installed in an in-need park with your help. It’s not like you’ll end up offering the park some grandstands, but it’s superior to nothing.
For even stronger involvement in repairing your local parks, you can start a fundraiser and raise support in the neighborhood. Promoting healthy exercise and outdoor activities for children can be as straightforward as raising money for a fresh set of swings.
If there was ever a time to get excited about fixing local parks, it is now. We don’t want to pretend that mediocrity is okay.
