Running Vs Walking
We all know that getting enough exercise has numerous benefits to our body. A lot of people who are looking to lose weight and those who want to stay in shape have a daily routine that they follow. Exercise helps with improving our health and our looks. It also helps with keeping our mood up. When you have a busy schedule, it’s hard to squeeze in a workout but some people manage. Walking is a great choice since it is the easiest cardio exercise and you can do it almost anywhere. You can do it at home, at work, at school, at the park and so many other places. You can burn calories this way even if it is quite an easy workout. It is one big misconception that it doesn’t since it’s too easy. There are a lot of variations you could do with your walking. You can do light walking, brisk walking and power walking. The difference between the three is the pace. One more benefit of walking is that you have a lower chance of getting injured. The only problem is that you burn lesser calories walking than running. But by changing the time you take to walk and your pace, you will actually lose almost as much as when you run. People who have heart and lung conditions are recommended to do some walking because it doesn’t stress their heart and lungs as much.
Running, which is more popular than walking, is usually a common choice for people since this makes us sweat more than walking but the problem is there’s not a lot of places you can just run on. You can do it at home with the help of a treadmill but without that, running around the house doesn’t really sound comfortable. Another problem with running is that you are at risk with injuries on your joints, shin splits, back pain and knee injuries. On the other hand, you can lose a lot weight for a lesser period of time when you run. It also helps with increasing your heart rate that contributes to improving blood circulation which keeps the rest of your body healthy.
Both walking and running are helpful with cutting down the calories in our system but when choosing an exercise to start with, walking is the way to go. If you have the stamina for it, you can start with running but a lot of people who do that eventually lose their drive because they get too tired. You can properly control your weight if you start with walking and gradually increase your pace to a run. It also helps with minimizing the chance of an injury which can hinder any future workout you want to do.
Choosing the workout that would be right for you is your decision just remember to consider a workout you can do, your schedule and your drive for it. Remember that when you exercise, you reap many benefits and it doesn’t need to be the big exercises. You can start slow and work your way up.
