Safe Exercise During Pregnancy
Exercising is the one thing that most pregnant women believe to make delivery easy. As such, many women would want to know the best ways to exercise while still being safe during pregnancy. How does one get moving while not posing a risk to the unborn baby? Is it not very dangerous to move too much while one is pregnant? Pregnant women should keep several things in mind before starting on any exercise program.
First of all, remember to consult your obstetrician. The first trimester is usually considered the most prone for miscarriages, so doctors usually do not advise exercise during that time. Most doctors recommend exercise either in the second or third trimester. But every pregnancy has its own characteristics, which explains why you need an assessment of your own specific conditions. This means your doctor’s specific advice is imperative. The one who can safely declare you having a safe pregnancy and can safely exercise is your doctor. Just because someone has no trouble during the first two trimesters, it is no guarantee of a safe third trimester. It is always better to be safe than sorry.
Next, make it a point to consult experts who know much about exercise and pregnant women. Some health clubs have special programs especially designed for pregnant women. Pregnant women and expectant fathers may have take special classes at the local health center, too. Prenatal concerns can be found in these classes, as well as special tips for safe exercising.
Finally, stick to the typical exercise recommended for pregnant women, mostly those that are low on impact. Most women benefit from walking, since it is the safest, while others enjoy water-based exercises. Pool exercises are easy for pregnant women since buoyancy makes their tummy feel lighter. This enables her to exercise without the added pressure of a growing baby’s weight inside. Then again, these exercises are done best with a skilled instructor, but even without one, walking around in the swimming pool can be safe. Even so, remember to get your doctor’s go-signal.
Now you can relax knowing that not ony is exercise possible while pregnant, it is actually highly recommended. Just bear in mind that you will need to keep your doctor updated, especially if anything unexpected occurs either during your exercise or even while you are resting. It’s not anything to be panicked about, of course, just usual procedure of letting your doctor know how you are doing and how the exercise is benefiting you. And then you can relax knowing you are one step closer to an easier delivery!
