Learning to Survive Through Self Defense Training

For the majority of people, self defense training is not even a thought.

There is a story of a young man in his early 20’s. He was walking in one of the always crowded streets of a city when all of a sudden he was accosted by three young fellows wielding pointed weapons almost a foot long each. Two of them were in front of him and the other at his back.

Of them one guy almost stabbed the young man with the pointed weapon in his right hand. The hand brandishing the arm was clutched by the young man with his left, twirled it and the very moment hit the elbow of that arm with his leg to yield it. The bad guy was quickly disabled.

Then the other guy in front of him immediately lunged at him with his weapon. The then expected victim warded off the onslaught by bending the arm holding right hand, first downwards and then on the inside. The young man’s right arm then empowered with the hip’s force gave a punch on second attacker’s chest, moving back his sternum and dropping him flat and traumatized.

The last one, by now quite overwhelmed with tables turned on them, tapped the would be victim’s shoulder hoping to drive the sharp weapon in his stomach. Anyway, the victim alternatively swerved his right elbow into action to the comprehended place of the final hoodlum’s face instead of facing him. The guy was floored as he hit the guy on the bridge of the nose.

That was the time the police came onto the scene. He confirmed he was fine when inquired by the police. They didn’t stop him and called up an ambulance to hospitalize the trio that attacked him.

To ears, it projects like a movie scene. But it is not. It is indeed a true story.

There are some lessons that can be learned from this story:

Some lessons are to be understood from this anecdote. The young man may have avoided the dangerous situation had he utilized self defense tactics. Before ever needing to use force, we are best served by using awareness to observe our surroundings.

He had an alert mindset and was aptly organized to take care of himself in such situations. To floor his assailants, he employed the correct self defense techniques. As there was no chance to smoothen the strained situation, he deployed the self defense tactics learnt by him.

His main purpose was to save himself and not annihilate his assailants, an important rule embedded in self defense training. Through fast thinking and immense control, the victim was able to maintain safety while following the law. He just moved to eliminate the danger – not the individuals. It was pure self defense.

The young man left without revealing his identity once he was told to leave.

Self defense training makes a very feasible answer for people wanting to live safely. While you may use safety precautions as you go about your day, knowing powerful techniques makes an enormous difference should danger find you.
