Instructors of childrens martial arts classes believe that the words handicapped, disabled, and special needs are all words that feel like they put limitations on the person. However, they cannot let those limitations stop them from trying to accomplish what others would think is impossible. You should always want to pass limitations that people place. Even if you don’t success in conquering that challenge the naysayers can’t say that you never tried. For that moment you will change how they believe in the people in this world. The martial arts world is a great example to use to describe how people with disabilities challenge the system and still win even if they lose.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu is martial arts style that is focuses heavily on submission grappling with a twist of judo. This martial art requires you to use your total body to fight. You need a good head on your shoulders to think about what attacks you want to do to your opponent. You need your arms and hands to get a grip on your opponent so you can drag them around and set up judo throws. You need your hips so you can move quickly into a good position or out of a bad position. You need your legs for mobility and to keep the distance. It seems like an individual with a disability would be unable to participate in this martial arts.

Maryland martial arts schools know that couldn’t be any further from the truth. Brazilian jiu-jitsu has fighters who are nothing, but brutes and rely on strength to win. However, BJJ is nothing but a chess match and depending on what the disability is you might still be able to play the game. You won’t feel bad about it not working out if you give it your maximum effort. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor that didn’t have the use of his legs compete at the biggest tournament of the year with no fear. The martial arts gym that he trained at prepared and trained him like every other student in the school. His opposition was a great competitor because he treated the match like he would with anybody else because he wanted to win also. Even though the man with handicap lost the fight he inspires and encourages everyone who watches him.

Maryland jujitsu schools want their students to love Brazilian jiu-jitsu because it is an amazing sport. You’ll have an opportunity to travel all over the world to compete against the best competitors. First time competition travelers should be prepared to handle situations that may arise. Throughout this article will be tips to make sure you are travel ready so you can focus on what’s important…winning!

First thing first, figure out what tournament you are going to compete in. Are you going to compete in a NAGA, Grapplers Quest, IBJJF, Good Fight, U.S. Grappling, etc? You need to figure out what organization is doing the tournament so you’ll know their rules and entry fees. Some tournaments will allow you to register the day of the competition while others have a deadline. Some tournaments allow you to wear whatever color Gi you want while others limit you to just white or blue. There are tournaments that let you weigh-in the day before and others right before you fight. There are also tournament that allow you to weigh-in without your Gi on. MMA fighting classes coaches recommend their fighters compete in BJJ regularly so they travel a lot to get experience.

The second thing you need to figure out is if you are traveling alone or with a team. Traveling alone can be very expensive. That is why it is highly recommended to travel with team to cut down the cost of the hotel and rental car. The most expensive thing will just be airfare. Try to choose a flight time that allows you to adjust to any time zone changes and get some rest before fighting.

Decide if you want to stay close to the event or further away from it. Some people like to stay close to the venue for convenience. Sometimes it is more relaxing to stay away from all the other competitors. You will be mentally sizing up everybody that walks around you if you stay close to the venue. That is a distraction that some people can’t handle. If you can maintain your focus then get a hotel close to the event.

If you have ever rolled with a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu you’ll realize that their pressure is incredible. MMA in MD students have the ability to apply pressure that would make you want to tap and it is the worst feeling in the world. Third Point Pressure is the name of that technique. Third Point Pressure is a skill that is better to be learned throughout your Brazilian jiu-jitsu career. It is so valuable to have in your repertoire because it opens you up with the ability to do so many different attacks. It’s a good feeling to see how slow your opponent is moving because you have pressure in all the right places. Don’t think that you have to be bigger than your opponent to be able to apply the Third Point Pressure to your opponent.

Developing the skill to apply Third Point Pressure on anybody requires patience and drilling time. Maryland jujitsu schools develop their student in three stages. There are three stages you have to go through to be a champion at applying the pressure. The first stage is to drill your Third Point Pressure on a stability ball. You have to try to stay connected to the ball as you move around. Pretend the stability ball is a person so move completely around the ball as you would your opponent. Your knees should never be on the ground and all your weight should feel like it is in the area that is connected to the ball. The second stage is to do the same drill on a smaller ball like a medicine ball. The surface area is smaller so your weight distribution has to be concentrated as you balance around the ball. Maneuvering your pressure around a tennis ball is the final level of Third Point Pressure development. Don’t think that this move is impossible because if you constantly drill to stay on your toes and use your hips to pressure it will be possible in due time. Women self defense classes emphasizes this kind of pressure to keep larger opponent down.

Maryland jujitsu instructors know that female grapplers are the rising trend right now, but there are still few good tournaments for women to compete in. How can the sport grow if the tournaments only have two or three women competing in each division? They are competing for the first, second, or third position medal. Sometimes there aren’t even any fighters in their division so they automatically get a gold medal instead of a refund. That will be $80-120 dollars thrown away. If they travel to tournaments that is even more money being wasted because there are tournaments that don’t let you see who has registered. They will always take a chance when competing in a grappling competition. However that is risk that has to be taken because how else will the sport grow if women don’t show up. Women who do MMA in MD have this problem also

One popular grappling tournament is the North American Grappling Association (NAGA). NAGA has tournaments throughout the United States which is great for getting the sport recognized. However, it’s still isn’t the best tournament for women yet. Grappling is one of the best workouts for women. There is still a lot of progress that needs to made in NAGA association. Unlike guys the women are also assigned to one mat for the whole day. It may not be a problem for some, but for others they will end up spending the entire day at the venue waiting for their match.

Other than that con NAGA is good about attracting female competitors to their tournament. Mainly for No-GI matches. More female competitors sign up for No-Gi matches than Gi matches. The competition level is generally pretty high among lower belts in Gi matches. Nowadays there are more women who compete at the blue belt level too. Parents with kids who do children’s martial arts classes sign up them up for tournaments. NAGA is good with attracting kids too. However the same problem happens with girls and they may have to compete against stronger boys.

Maryland jujitsu students have to raise their game in order to beat their top competitors and so should you. If you go to a BJJ tournament and keep losing to the same person it’s just a matter of time before you realize that you need to do something different. Unfortunately your game plan will not work against every opponent you encounter. In that case you have to consider what your options are. You could stick to the same gameplan and hope that the brackets are matched up so you don’t have to fight the person who keeps beating you. You can make up an entirely new gameplan to use specifically for that person. You can keep the gameplan you have and make adjustments to it. Whichever you decide to do you have to make sure your training is focus on accomplishing that task. If you kept losing because you felt you weren’t strong enough then you can start strength and conditioning program.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu is tiring both mentally and physically. To raise the game above their opponent’s MMA in MD students stop playing checkers with them because their opponent is playing chess. Chess is a thinking game whereas checker you just move your chip not really thinking about the next move. When you can adopt that mentality you can really begin to see improvements to your game. You can study footage on your opponents to see what their problem areas are. You can study a book specifically on the ends and out of a particular position you like or have trouble with. You can do conditioning exercises to improve your cardiovascular level. Feeling like you are out of breath is a terrible feeling to experience in a BJJ fight. Feeling like you don’t have the strength to move your opponent is a defeating feeling. That’s why fighters who get MMA training in MD are on a strength training routine.

For some Maryland jujitsu athletes, training Brazilian jiu-jitsu is more than doing martial arts it’s a lifestyle for most BJJ practitioners. They love their Brazilian jiu-jitsu school that they train at, their teammates, and the instructors. They are dedicated to their team and refuse to train at a different Brazilian jiu-jitsu school. However if they have a job that requires them to travel a lot they might have to think about doing the unthinkable. They will have to consider cross-training at another Brazilian jiu-jitsu school till they return back home. If they truly love Brazilian jiu-jitsu they will find a way to keep training even if it is at another BJJ school.

There are some guidelines to follow before thinking about cross-training at another BJJ school. Once you know where you are traveling to you have to research the area for BJJ schools. Once you have complied a list of schools in the area you should bring them to your instructor. MMA in MD instructors recommend asking your instructors for advice on which schools might be the best in that area. It is also better to ask your instructor first because you don’t know if your school is feuding with another team. Once you get approval from your instructor you can begin the process of contacting the BJJ school.

It’s better to contact the BJJ school that you are thinking about training at in advance instead of randomly showing up. By contacting the school they can tell you when it is the best time for you to come in. They will also be able to tell you if there is a mat fee or charge for training on their mats. You have to be careful when training at another school because you don’t know how their students spar. You have to be careful because some schools are territorial when it comes to upper belts from an outside school training with them. The best fighters who get MMA training in MD aren’t afraid to train at a different school because they love training Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

As the saying goes “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Fighters who get MMA training in MD wish that saying was true because they would be injury free and in the best shape of their lives. You would never have to worry about getting your limbs broken ever again as long as you eat an apple a day. Their muscles also wouldn’t feel like they’re tearing apart. Especially in a martial art sport like Brazilian jiu-jitsu. The chances of getting injury are extremely high if it is not practice in a safe training facility with qualified instructors to teach the techniques. Brazilian jiu-jitsu has a lot of techniques that can break a person’s arm, leg, ankle, toes, wrist, elbow, and knees. Nearly all the joints can be broken by someone who practices Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Maryland jujitsu schools know that even though it is trained in a safe facility there are still chances of accidents happening. You could have been drilling a technique with your partner and they manage to move your legs off to side so hard that when you use your toes to keep your balance your big toe breaks. That break is something that will require a doctor’s visit.

When you get to the doctor’s office you get your x-ray taken of your foot and the doctor tells you that you have a small crack in your big toe that will take 3 months to heal then another 3 months to recover completely. Here lies the question. Do you follow the doctor’s orders and wait the six months before training again? Would you ignore what the doctor says and just tape the toe up and train anyways? The answer is to follow the doctor’s orders. It will be a long six months, but just because the body can’t train as hard doesn’t mean the mind can’t keep training also. You can watch Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructional DVDs, watching competition footage of your favorite competitor, take notes during class to keep you mind training when your body cannot. MMA in MD students have to fight the urge hard to stop themselves from training before they are completely healed.

There is nothing worse than going to a Brazilian jiu-jitsu competition and you are scheduled to fight at an inconvenient time. Maryland jujitsu instructors tell their students it doesn’t matter if you are happy that you get to fight first, middle, or last. It doesn’t matter which time you are scheduled to fight because you’ll end up waiting around regardless. Whether or not you are with a team can determine how you spend your time. If you are a close knit team then time will go by super quickly.

If you are not a closed knit family type of team you can try these simple ideas to help pass the time till it’s your turn to fight. For some people all that time in between can be a determent to them. You have the ability to sike yourself out if you spend that extra time watching other competitors fight. Some people also get distracted easily and will lose focus on the task at hand which is to win. If you are a competitor that has to watch your weight then going last is not the ideal position to be in. Having to wait to fight is not good for BJJ competitors who are close on the weight for international tournaments. There is a chance that you can gain weight at the venue if you eat. MMA in MD students use this strategy when you are close to your weight limit you can eat as long as you go to weight scale carrying your food and seeing how you weight with gi and food in your hand. If it is over the limit then you can’t eat it.

There is a perk to getting to fight earlier. When you are done with your fight you have more freedom to walk around. You’ll actually be able to eat all the food you want. Being supportive and watching all of your teammates compete before leaving will also build team comradery. To pass the time quickly you can always go the more traditional route and listen to music. Looking at other people compete can give you ideas on what you would like to work on in the future. You can pass time by checking out what merchandise the vendors are selling at the venue. Students that get MMA training in MD train at various hours throughout the day so their body will have energy to fight no matter what time.

BJJ Baltimore schools get students asking them every day to be made into world champions. Do you have dreams of becoming a world champion in Brazilian jiu-jitsu? Acting accordingly is the way to turn your dreams into reality. In order to achieve your dreams you have to take a course of action, but few people understand what it means to act accordingly. To act accordingly means that everything that you do is planned out to reach your goal. If you don’t plan everything out you’ll be wondering around making plenty of mistakes along the way. There is too much trial and error involved in not planning and that can take away from the time that you could have use to do something significant.

Maryland jujitsu schools helps them understand the harsh reality involved with achieving the dream of becoming a Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion. People may know from watching others that it is a tough road, but until you have actually walked the path you’ll never truly understand how tough it can be. Ever body wants to be a world champion, but nobody wants to train like a world champion. It requires a lot of dedication, focus, willpower, sacrifice, and even selfishness to reach the top.

You have to be willing to completely trust in your instructors when they say they know what is best for you. If they want you to run 3 miles every morning you better run 3 miles every morning. If they say you have to drill the same set of moves for one hour you better drill the same set of moves for one hour. If there is a practice on the weekend and your buddies are having a cooking out party you better be at that practice. Remember you told your instructors that you want to be world champion. If you treat your coaches like you aren’t serious about your training then they will feel like they are wasting their time. Maryland BJJ instructors get upset when students say one thing, but mean another. If you are not willing to train hard you should apologize to your coach for waiting patiently..

Here’s a little Brazilian Jiu Jitsu history before you start to train jiu jitsu in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, or BJJ, can be a self defense program that focuses on grappling or ground fighting.

The art was derived from the Japanese martial art of Kodokan Judo inside the early twentieth century.

It teaches that a scaled-down, and occasionally weaker, individual can efficiently defend against a bigger, more powerful assailant by employing proper strategy and leverage.

The most prevalent ways to defeat a larger opponent is by means of joint locks or chokeholds.

Mitsuyo Maeda started to journey the planet in 1904 performing Judo demonstrations and difficult Boxers, wrestlers along with other martial artists to fights.

He arrived in Brazil November 14, 1914.

In Brazil, in the northern state of Para, he befriended Gastão Gracie, an influential businessman, who helped Maeda get established. To show his gratitude, Maeda offered to educate Judo to Gastão’s oldest son, Carlos Gracie. Carlos discovered for a couple of decades and eventually passed his knowledge to his brothers.

One day, when Helio Gracie was sixteen a long time previous, a college student showed up for class when Carlos wasn’t around. Helio, who had memorized all the tactics from viewing his brothers educate, offered to begin the class. When the class was more than, Carlos showed up and apologized for his delay. The student asked for Helio to continue being his teacher, Helio Gracie then progressively developed Gracie Jiu Jitsu as an adaptation from Judo as he was not able to accomplish several Judo moves.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu become one of the most renowned types of martial arts in 1994 if the Gracie Family members began the Final Fighting Championship.

Once the scaled-down men had been tapping out the bigger more powerful guys every person knew they needed to begin understanding BJJ.

Leandro Nyza

Leandro Nyza was born and elevated in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

He is been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for more than 25 a long time and has put in far more than ten several years being a black belt.
He spent the majority of his everyday living instruction beneath Wendell Alexander who is the co-founder of Nova Uniao, among the ideal Jiu Jitsu colleges within the globe.

Nyza moved to Hawaii in 2000 to assist UFC Veterans BJ Penn and Renato “Charuto” Verissimo train for his or her fights.

Now he teaches in two locations:

The dojo in Honolulu trains at HMC Academy off of Dillingham Blvd.
The school in Kaneohe trains in the Windward Family Wellness Center.
You could have a look at the Class Schedule right here

Or Give Nyza a call at 808-393-7653 to obtain 1 Full week of Coaching for Cost-free.
