It will not even matter if we have a weapon; a knife or a pistol. Kimbo outworked Herman in the first and second rounds on positioning alone, though Herman found Kimbo's back on three occasions, but couldn't get his hooks in to secure the finishing choke. Herman Kimbo eked out a split decision over Ed Herman in a competitive 125-pound contest. The Cesar Gracie-trained Kimbo showed versatility on the mat with rear-naked choke and armbar attempts in the first three-minute round, but Herman battled back with her own armbar attempt in the second set.

Kimbo Slice didn't disappoint his hometown crowd with a clear-cut unanimous decision victory over Eric "Butterbean" Esche for the vacant Pure Combat bantamweight championship inside Sacramento Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, Calif. It was Kimbo's night from the start, as he dropped Butterbean with a fast jab and then grounded his opponent with a follow-up takedown -- the first of many for the evening. Kimbo doled out punishment from top until the first-round bell sounded at three minutes.

Not wanting anything to do with Thompson's striking, Kimbo ducked under every flurry, settling into a predictable pattern of shooting for the takedown to counter Thompson's standup.
