<p> Why we call those chubby lumps at our sides &#8216;love handles&#8217; is a mystery to me. There&#8217;s not a lot to love about them.</p>
<p> The technical term for love handles is obliques, after the oblique muscles which sit at an angle at each side. The word oblique mean &#8216;at an angle&#8217;.</p>
<p> In the fitness &amp; health industry the standard advice starts with &#8211; eat healthily, exercise moderately, balanced diet &#8211; and all the other rubbish they spout.</p>
<p> We <strong>know</strong> what we <strong>should</strong> do but we need to get rid of these love handles the easy way, without the hard work. Is there a way?</p>
<p> Yes, you could do it. You could eat as you are now but it will take an almost Herculean effort to manage it.</p>
<p> The problem is while you are hard at it exercising for your love handles, sweating yesterdays burgers off, today’s burgers are making their way slowly to your midriff.</p>
<p> If, and I say this carefully, you could reduce your intake of junk food you could also reduce the amount of exercise it takes to look great.</p>
<p> It&#8217;s a balancing act. Do you really want to rid yourself of your love handles? Enough to make a lifestyle change?</p>
<p> Or do you want to continue to fill your self with junk food and work much harder at the exercise routines. It&#8217;s your call.</p>
<p> A popular exercise for love handles is side bends. You may need to do a few hundred a day to <strong>maintain your love handles</strong> and your current diet. Or only do a few dozen to <strong>keep the love handles flat</strong> if you make the lifestyle change.</p>
<p> As you will gather from the above, it&#8217;s a fine balancing act. Junk food = more exercise while healthy food = less exercise.</p>
<p> As a person, I&#8217;m lazy. I try to eat the best options, this way it keeps the exercise to a minimum. I still exercise for love handles but only to stop them appearing again.</p>
<p> To wrap it up, it will indeed hurt if you have to do masses of exercise for love handles. Far better to minimise the exercise by altering your lifestyle a bit.</p>

You hold a walking stick or broom above your head and bend from side to side. Simple! You can do side bends all you like but they won&#8217;t work.</p>
<p> They rarely work because you are trying to target just one small area. This is very difficult if not impossible. You&#8217;ll always get the smart ass telling you they do work. They do work, but only if you do them with a whole all round system and not just &#8220;spot&#8221; training.</p>

<p> This could be walking, swimming, running, weightlifting or even sex. The last one sounds good to me! Any form of exercise is better than no form of exercise. The reason why people are getting fatter is they don&#8217;t burn off the calories that they eat.</p>
