The Best Exercises You Can Do With Dumbbells

Dumbbells are part of a larger group of fitness equipment called free weights. Free weights are designed to work your different muscle groups in a liberal manner. Compared to resistance machines, free weights will allow the person to manipulate the weight to focus on a certain muscle group. Free weights such as dumbbells are good to have if you want to have varied exercises to shape up your lats, your triceps, and many other muscles. If you are interested in doing dumbbell exercises then here are some procedures that you can follow so that you can have a routine to shape to tone your muscles.

Lying Chest Presses. This dumbbell exercise develops your chest muscles. Lying flat on a bench, hold the dumbbells directly above your chest with your arms extended. The next step would be to lower the dumbbells to the level of your chest until they barely touch your chest. Hold this position for several seconds to allow your muscles to reach peak contraction. Then, slowly lift the dumbbells back to the original position. You can have as many reps as you desire. One thing to remember when doing this exercise is that you should not allow your elbows to lock.

Lateral Shoulder Raises. The shoulder muscles, like your trapezius muscle, will be worked out in this exercise. To begin the procedure, stand uprightly with your knees slightly bent and keep your feet in line with your shoulders. Grab a pair of dumbbells and carry them at your sides. Slowly raise your arms to your sides until your arms are parallel to the floor. Remember to bend your elbows slightly when you lift the dumbbells. After several seconds, gently bring your arms down to your sides. Repeat this dumbbell exercise as many times as you can tolerate.

Leg Half Squats. This is a very good exercise to shape your leg muscles and to increase joint strength in that area. Assuming the upright standing position while holding the dumbbells at your side, slowly bend your knees until you achieve a half squat position. Next, use your leg muscles strength to slowly stand erect again. Remember to do the exercise in a controlled manner. You can repeat the steps in as many times as you can tolerate.

The good thing about dumbbell exercises is that it can also be done at home. Imagine getting to tone your body in the comfort of your home.

You don’t have to go to the gym to build up your body’s muscle groups if you have the right home fitness equipment, such as dumbbells, in your place. It will make your workout routine easier to follow if you are kept busy by your work or your business.
