The most frequent question I get is how to build big chest muscles fast. Every serious bodybuilder wants to build big chest muscles. Building big chest muscles fast requires adherence to some simple guidelines. Just follow my guidelines, and you are going to impress yourself with how fast you can build strong pecs.
There are many different chest exercises, each one working your chest muscles slightly differently. It’s no wonder lifters don’t get fast results when all they do is presses and flies on the flat bench. These guys, and gals, are getting stronger, for sure, but they are not maximizing their chest strength and size.
Do these chest exercises from the following list to get a chest workout that hits your pecs from every angle.
Bench Press – one warm up set, then progressively heavy, then
back down to lighter rep-out weights. As many as ten sets total.
Pec-Deck Flies – one warm up, then heavy sets. Five sets total.
Incline Dumbbell Flies – one warm up, then increasingly heavy
and one final rep-out set. Five sets total.
Decline Dumbbell or Barbell Press – one warm up, then heavy
sets, one rep-out. Five sets total.
Push-Ups – three sets, each to exhaustion.
Dumbbell Pullover – 5 sets.
You will find that using dumbbells instead of machines, and even barbells, will give you better overall results. By using free weights, you will also be using other supporting muscles, so these will get additional work, too, and your overall development will look more natural.
Any pec exercise will work other muscles, especially the triceps and deltoids. For that reason, you need to really focus while working out, and try to really contract your pecs at the top of each exercise. It is also crucial for fast muscle gains that you lower your weights slowly to really stress the muscle fibers.
Something to be careful of while sculpting your pecs. No matter which exercise you are doing, you need to maintain proper form and stay in control of the weight at all times. No jerking motions, unless of course you are doing the clean and jerk. I highly recommend you get a friend or trainer to be your spotter.
